Austin Voices for Education and Youth
Austin Voices for Education and Youth creates community collaboration to strengthen families, support kids and improve schools. We believe our public schools can serve as powerful hubs for bringing neighborhoods, families, and students together to achieve positive change.
Role in NACER: AVEY will be supporting student academic success through the “Community School” framework.
Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID)
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a nonprofit that changes lives by helping schools shift to a more equitable, student-centered approach. We close the opportunity gap so educators can prepare all students for college, careers, and life. When schools partner with AVID, they receive professional development, a suite of resources, and ongoing support to ensure a lasting impact that maximizes their return on investment. AVID is not “one more thing to do”—our work with schools aligns with their goals to accelerate and enhance the work that is already happening.
Role in NACER: AVID is working closely with educators in our family of schools on the implementation of high-quality school programs.
EcoRise
EcoRise inspires a new generation of leaders to design a sustainable future for all. Our school-based program empowers youth to tackle real-world challenges in their schools and communities by teaching sustainability, design innovation, and social entrepreneurship.
Role in NACER: EcoRise provides training for teachers to create authentic learning experiences through Problem Based Learning (PBL) that connects students to their campus and community.
Communities in Schools
Many students and their families have a hard time accessing and navigating the maze of public and private services. There may be ample resources in a community, but without someone on the ground who is able to connect these resources with the schools and students that need them most. Through a school-based Program Manager, we bring community resources into schools to empower success for all students by removing barriers for students at risk of dropping out, keeping kids in schools and on the path to graduation and leveraging evidence, relationships and local resources to drive results.
United Way
After more than a century of dedicated community service, UWT remains steadfast in its vision of being united for a future where all Texans thrive. Today, our mission continues to be centered on community as we work towards strengthening and supporting local United Ways in Texas.
As the state association for Texas United Ways, UWT builds upon the power of statewide collaboration by equipping nearly 70 member organizations with resources to achieve their missions and meet their communities’ most pressing needs. Our work focuses on both building local United Way organizational capacity and enhancing the impact of local United Ways in their respective communities.
Austin Council of PTAs
Austin Council of PTAs includes all Austin ISD PTAs. We work in partnership with Texas PTA and National PTA to make every child’s potential a reality. ACPTA has an executive board elected by delegates from AISD PTAs. The executive board works to fulfill the duties of ACPTA which include strengthening local PTAs, developing leadership potential, promoting PTA membership, and advancing the goals, programs and initiatives of National and Texas PTAs.
